Pancakes

Saturday morning. Sunday morning. Any morning that my kids are at my house revolves around pancakes. In fact, there have been many mornings when Ella’s first word to me when she wakes up is “pancakes”. Not, “Good morning,” or “ I love you”. “Pancakes”.

It’s an obsession gone so far out of control it’s become a necessity - second only to the sun rising…and some may say that the sun only rises so we can wake up and make pancakes from scratch.

Lily used to make them with me, but she’s moved on to more important things like Saturday morning cartoons and video games. Ella has heroically taken up the task. Mainly so she can lick up the raw pancake batter. Not the best idea, with the raw egg and all. But she’s still alive.

Someday Ella will move on, to more important things, I guess. Who am I kidding; don’t need to guess…I know.

But it’s pancakes for breakfast for the foreseeable future.

Fine with me.
